When she was a young girl, her parents encouraged her interest in track-and-fi eld because they thought she would run off some of her energy. The vivacious high school student excelled at both track and cross-country, and her energy level never wavered. With her competitive spirit and a true zest for life, she still loves to run. Though her high school and collegiate running days are behind her, Laura still runs local races, marathons and "just around the neighborhood." No matter where she's running, one thing has always held true - once she's set on a path, nothing holds her back!

Built on a foundation of a strong work ethic and traditional values, her father has grown his family business, Merit Fasteners, over three decades from a small
garage operation to a multi-million dollar business. Laura learned a lot from her family, and when her sisters decided to start their own business,
they counted on Laura for her help. Indeed, it was when Laura became sole owner that their endeavor grew in production more than ten-fold! When she sees an
opportunity for success, this dynamo forges ahead and exceeds expectations.

Laura enthusiastically seeks ways to better her community as well. "I want to share the joy that life has to offer with everyone around me," Laura explains. And she knows that the best way to spread this positive outlook is to put her innate business sense to good work. She has done so by organizing the local Lake Mary Race to raise funds for her church, taking part in the annual Walk-A-Thon with her sons, taking part in a weekly woman's fellowship breakfast, and doing diligent volunteer work for the Orlando chapter of the American Cancer Society. Together with her husband, Rik, she dedicates her energy to making a difference for those who need it most.
